Azzedine Ounahi: Morocco midfielder at Girona linked with Al-Ittihad move in Saudi Pro League switch

Morocco international Azzedine Ounahi, currently at Girona, is being linked with a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad as the relegated LaLiga2 club brace for interest in one of their leading midfielders.

Ounahi, 26, is under contract at Girona until 30 June 2030 after joining from Marseille for a reported €6m fee in August 2025, but his long-term deal has not deterred Al-Ittihad from exploring a potential transfer. The playmaker is valued at around €10m, a figure that is expected to form the basis of any negotiations between the Spanish club and the Jeddah side.

Girona’s relegation in the 2025-26 season has increased the likelihood of high-profile departures this summer, with Ounahi among the most saleable assets in the squad. The midfielder has previously featured in LaLiga, Ligue 1 and European competition, building a profile that has attracted interest from abroad.

Ounahi has also enhanced his reputation on the international stage, playing a central role in Morocco’s recent success. He was part of the squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2025 and appeared in all six of his country’s matches at the 2026 World Cup, scoring twice.

Before moving to Spain, Ounahi’s career took him from Angers to Marseille and then on loan to Panathinaikos, where he gained further European experience, including in the Europa League and Conference League. For now, he remains a Girona player preparing for life in the second tier, with his lengthy contract giving the Catalan club a strong negotiating position should Al-Ittihad firm up their interest.
