FIFA Series 2026: Kenya name final 23-man squad

Kenya have confirmed their final 23-man squad for the upcoming FIFA Series in Kigali, following a series of enforced changes due to injuries and player unavailability.

The revised list, announced ahead of the international window, represents the final travelling group that will feature for the Harambee Stars in the tournament.

The team is scheduled to depart on Tuesday, 24 March, as preparations intensify for their opening fixture.

Several notable absentees have shaped the final selection. Key players including Michael Olunga, Joseph Okumu and Erick Ouma are among those ruled out through injury.

While others such as Daniel Anyembe and Zak Vyner are unavailable for selection.

These setbacks have compelled the technical bench to reassess its options.

Ultimately, settling on a squad that blends domestic-based players with emerging talents.

The goalkeeping department will be handled by Faruk Shikhalo, Brian Bwire and Ian Otieno. In defence, Manzur Okwaro, Abud Omar, Alphonce Omija, Mike Kibwage, Frank Odhiambo, Rooney Onyango and Daniel Sakari have been selected to provide stability at the back.

Midfield responsibilities will fall to Alpha Onyango, Duke Abuya, Richard Odada, Chrispine Erambo, Austine Odhiambo, Will Lenkupae and Mohammed Bajaber.

Meanwhile, the attacking line will feature Job Ochieng, Zech Obiero, Clarke Oduor, Ryan Ogam, Lawrence Okoth and Ben Stanley.

Despite the disruptions, the squad reflects a deliberate attempt to maintain balance.

While offering opportunities to players stepping into the spotlight. The absence of several senior figures could open the door for younger or less-established names to make an impression on the international stage.

Kenya are set to begin their campaign against Estonia on March 27 at Amahoro Stadium. Before playing a second fixture on March 30 depending on the outcome of the opening match.

The tournament format will see teams grouped together, with fixtures structured to maximise competitive exposure, including penalty shootouts in the event of draws.

The FIFA Series is part of a broader initiative by FIFA to provide national teams with meaningful international matches outside the traditional calendar.

Featuring 48 teams across multiple host nations, the competition is designed to enhance global football development by encouraging cross-confederation encounters.

For Kenya, the tournament presents an opportunity to rebuild momentum and assess squad depth in the absence of several regular starters.

With a reshaped squad and limited preparation time, the focus will be on cohesion and adaptability as they look to make a positive impact in Rwanda.
