Zamalek strengthen women’s team with signing of Olivia Morcos

Zamalek have confirmed the signing of Pyramids FC player Olivia Morcos on a three-year contract, as the club continues to reinforce its women’s football squad ahead of the 2026–2027 season.

The announcement was made by the board of directors of Zamalek, chaired by Hussein Labib, as part of an ongoing recruitment drive during the current summer transfer window aimed at strengthening the team for the upcoming campaign.

Morcos joins the club on a free transfer after final agreement was reached on all contractual terms between both parties.

Signing ceremony attended by club officials

The official signing ceremony took place with the presence of several key figures from within the club’s women’s football structure.

Among those in attendance were Nayera Al-Ahmar, a member of Zamalek’s board of directors, alongside Captain Shahinaz Al-Hamami, head of women’s football at the club and chair of Million Sports Services and Supplies Company.

Also present was Captain Hatem Shaaban, vice-president of the women’s football department, who also serves as vice-president of the associated company overseeing operations within the women’s game at Zamalek.

The presence of senior officials underlined the importance the club is placing on developing its women’s football project ahead of the new season.

Versatile player adds depth to squad

Morcos arrives at Zamalek with experience across several Egyptian clubs, having previously played for El Sekka El Hadid, ENPPI, and Pyramids FC.

She is regarded as a versatile player capable of operating in multiple positions, including both right-back and left-back roles, as well as a creative midfield position as a playmaker. Her adaptability is expected to provide tactical flexibility to the coaching staff as the squad prepares for a competitive season.

Her arrival is part of Zamalek’s broader strategy to build a balanced squad with depth across key positions.

Sixth summer signing for Zamalek

The signing of Morcos represents Zamalek’s sixth addition of the current transfer window as the club continues to reshape its women’s team.

She follows a series of earlier arrivals including Ghram Osama from Modern Sport, Nada El-Gharib from Pyramids, Jana Ibrahim from Al-Ittihad Alexandria, Mariam Rabie from ENPPI, and Farah El-Shawarby from Al Masry.

This sustained recruitment activity highlights the club’s determination to strengthen the squad significantly ahead of the new campaign.

Retaining core of the squad

Alongside new arrivals, Zamalek have also focused on maintaining stability within the existing squad by renewing the contracts of several key players.

Defender Menna Atef, goalkeeper Neama Sayed, and midfielder Micheline Yenni Nicola Papadopoulou have all signed new deals to remain at the club.

In addition, striker Shorouk Ibrahim has also extended her contract, forming part of the club’s strategy to preserve a strong core group while integrating fresh talent.

Ambition ahead of new season

Zamalek’s continued activity in the transfer market, highlighted by the signing of Olivia Morcos, reflects a clear intention to build a competitive women’s team ahead of the 2026–2027 season. With a mix of experienced players, new signings, and retained key figures, the club is laying the groundwork for a more ambitious campaign in women’s football.
