Tunisia midfielder Obaid Chabbi has joined ES Metlaoui on loan from top-flight rivals Stade Tunisien.
The midfielder moves within Ligue 1 for the 2026-27 campaign, giving Metlaoui an additional option in the centre of the pitch as they shape their squad for the new season. The deal is a straight loan transfer, with Chabbi remaining under contract at Stade Tunisien and scheduled to return there at the end of his spell.
Chabbi has signed in time for the new season after Stade Tunisien agreed to send him to Metlaoui for more regular involvement in the first team. His contract with ES Metlaoui runs until 30 June 2028, aligning his stay at the club with the duration of the loan arrangement.
The Tunisian has already had a taste of Ligue 1 action, making three appearances and clocking 182 minutes in the top flight. Those outings have come in domestic league competition, giving Metlaoui a player with recent experience at the same level they will compete in this term.
Primarily a central midfielder, Chabbi will wear the number 24 shirt at ES Metlaoui and adds depth to a squad looking to strengthen its options across the middle of the park.
Chabbi’s move means ES Metlaoui have secured a Tunisian Ligue 1 midfielder on loan from Stade Tunisien for the 2026-27 season, with a return to his parent club scheduled for 30 June 2028.
