Club Africain end 11-Year wait for Tunisian Ligue 1 title

Club Africain have been crowned champions of Tunisia after defeating fierce city rivals Espérance Sportive de Tunis 1-0 on Sunday to seal the Ligue 1 title with one match still remaining.

The victory moved Club Africain five points clear at the top of the table, putting them beyond the reach of their rivals and confirming their first league triumph since the 2014/15 season.

It marks the end of an 11-year wait for the Tunisian giants, who return to the summit of domestic football after years of frustration and near misses.

Winning the title against their biggest rivals added even greater significance to the achievement, with supporters celebrating a memorable derby victory that delivered the championship.

The Red and White have enjoyed a strong campaign built on consistency and resilience, ultimately doing enough to dethrone Espérance and reclaim the crown.

For Espérance, the defeat represents a painful blow in one of African football’s fiercest rivalries, as their rivals secured the title in decisive fashion.

Club Africain’s latest triumph also strengthens their historic standing in Tunisian football and could provide renewed momentum ahead of next season’s continental ambitions.

The title-winning celebrations are expected to continue across Tunis as fans savour a long-awaited return to league glory.
