Mauritania’s Aboulaye Camara signs first professional contract with Nice

Mauritanian midfielder Aboulaye Camara has signed his first professional contract with French club OGC Nice, marking a significant milestone in the 18-year-old’s development after a year with the Ligue 1 side.

The deal represents a vote of confidence in the young African midfielder, who recently made his first appearance in the French top flight and is beginning to experience the demands of professional football.

Camara made his Ligue 1 debut on 5 September against Le Mans, with the match ending in a 1-1 draw.

His first-team appearance has now been followed by a professional contract, providing further encouragement as he looks to establish himself at the club.

The Mauritanian says he has found an environment at Nice that allows him to develop his game while benefiting from the support and trust of those around him.

“Everything happened very quickly. But here, I’ve really found the perfect environment to express myself. I know I’m trusted and supported with kindness.

“I had a lot of fun last season, and I’m having a lot of fun this season, where I’m discovering the professional world and all its demands. I’m going to continue to work with humility and ambition. I’m very proud of this first professional contract and I want to thank everyone who is supporting me,” Aboulaye Camara said, in comments reported by Maxifoot.

His comments underline his determination to keep progressing while remaining grounded as he takes his first steps in the professional game.

Having spent the past year at Nice, Camara has been able to settle into the club’s environment before reaching this latest milestone.

His Ligue 1 debut against Le Mans offered an opportunity to experience senior football, and the contract now gives him another reason to continue working towards a regular place in the first team.

For Mauritanian football, Camara’s progress represents another opportunity for a young player from the country to gain experience in one of Europe’s major leagues.

At 18, he is still at an early stage of his career, with further development and opportunities ahead of him.

Nice’s decision to hand him his first professional deal signals the club’s willingness to continue supporting his progress. Camara, meanwhile, has pledged to approach the next phase of his career with humility and ambition.

Elsewhere at Nice, discussions involving young player Junior Mandza are also progressing.

The club’s management and the player’s representatives have reportedly agreed in principle on the idea of extending his contract, with a renewal expected next January.
