Atletico linked with Benfica right-back Daniel Banjaqui

Portugal and Guinea-Bissau defender Daniel Banjaqui, 18, is being linked with a move from Benfica to Atletico in LaLiga.

The right-back has established himself around Benfica’s first-team squad this season, making two Liga Portugal appearances and featuring once in the Europa League. He has also started all three of Benfica’s Liga Portugal 2 matches, playing 250 minutes in total across those games.

Banjaqui joined Benfica’s senior side from Benfica B on 1 July 2026 and is under contract with the Portuguese club until 30 June 2031. His current market value is listed at €10m, although no transfer fee has been reported for the rumoured move to Spain.

Born in Lisbon, Banjaqui has represented Portugal at youth level and was part of the side that won both the Under-17 World Cup and European Under-17 Championship in 2025. He has developed through Benfica’s academy since joining from Real Formacao as a youth player in 2018.

The potential transfer would see Banjaqui leave Benfica after only a short period with the first team, where he has so far been used across domestic and European competition. He remains a Benfica player, with his long-term contract running until 2031.
