Maresca poised to make Premier League history with seventh successive win

Manchester City host Ipswich Town on 17 October in the seventh round of the Premier League, with a remarkable managerial record at stake.

Manchester City have won each of their six previous league matches. If Maresca guides his side to victory against Ipswich Town tomorrow evening, he will become the first manager in Premier League history to win all of his opening seven league games in charge of a single club.

The potential achievement follows a victory over Liverpool last week, which saw Maresca become only the fourth manager to win his first six Premier League matches at a club.

Pep Guardiola was the first to reach the mark, doing so with Manchester City in 2016. Carlo Ancelotti then matched the feat with Chelsea in 2009, while Ole Gunnar Solskjær achieved it with Manchester United during the 2018-19 season.

Maresca now has the opportunity to move beyond that group with another win against Ipswich Town.
