Abde Ezzalzouli’s form for Real Betis has attracted the attention of Barcelona manager Hansi Flick, with the Morocco international’s market value now estimated at €40m.
The 24-year-old winger has continued to impress in Spain since joining the Andalusian club, including scoring against Barcelona. Flick made clear before the two sides met that he admired Ezzalzouli’s qualities, an unusual level of praise from a manager who is generally measured when discussing players at other clubs.
According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Flick took particular care to highlight the Moroccan’s ability and attacking profile. Ezzalzouli is valued for his pace, his capacity to beat opponents and his effectiveness in finding space in advanced areas.
The manager’s comments have renewed speculation over whether Ezzalzouli could one day return to Barcelona. The winger came through the Catalan club’s academy before continuing his career elsewhere, and his name has appeared among the attacking options considered by Barcelona during recent summer transfer windows.
There have reportedly been discussions and enquiries about the player, although no agreement has developed into a transfer. His ability to take on defenders one-on-one and make a difference in the final third would suit a side looking for greater penetration from wide areas.
However, Flick’s admiration does not in itself represent confirmation that Barcelona intend to sign Ezzalzouli. There is currently no confirmed plan for the player to return to the club.
Barcelona retain sell-on interest
Ezzalzouli’s performances for Real Betis have strengthened his position in the transfer market, with his value estimated at €40m. A deal at that level would represent a significant investment for Barcelona as the club balances its financial limitations with its sporting priorities.
Should interest develop into a formal approach, negotiations would depend on Real Betis’ demands and Barcelona’s recruitment strategy. The Catalan club does, however, retain an important financial connection to the player.
Barcelona kept 20% of the rights to a future sale when Ezzalzouli left. If he is transferred again, that clause could allow the club to receive part of the fee, although the precise amount would depend on the contractual terms governing its application.
For now, Ezzalzouli’s performances in Andalusia and his rising valuation are doing more to fuel the speculation than any confirmed offer. Flick has expressed his appreciation for a player capable of changing matches with the ball at his feet, while Barcelona’s retained sell-on percentage means the club could also benefit financially from his continued progress.
Real Betis’ next fixture will be their third match of the Champions League league phase against Feyenoord.
