CAF African schools championship 2026 finals to be broadcast live on SuperSport

The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has confirmed that the 2026 Continental Finals of the CAF African Schools Football Championship will be broadcast live on SuperSport, marking a significant milestone for youth football visibility across the continent.

The finals, scheduled to take place in Harare, Zimbabwe, from April 6 to April 10, will feature top-performing school teams from across Africa in both boys’ and girls’ under-15 categories.

A Major Boost for Youth Football Visibility

CAF described the live broadcast as a key step in expanding the reach of Africa’s largest schools football programme. With SuperSport’s extensive audience across the continent, the partnership is expected to significantly elevate the competition’s profile.

The CAF African Schools Football Championship, launched under CAF President Patrice Motsepe, has already engaged more than three million boys and girls since its inception, making it one of the most impactful grassroots football initiatives in Africa.

CAF believes the exposure from live television coverage will further strengthen interest in youth football while showcasing emerging talent to a global audience.

Finals Schedule and Format

The tournament will bring together champions from CAF’s six zonal unions alongside host nation Zimbabwe.

The finals will culminate on April 10, with:

  • Girls’ Final kicking off at 14:00 local time (12:00 GMT)
  • Boys’ Final following at 15:15 local time (13:15 GMT)

Both matches will be broadcast live on SuperSport.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe is also expected to attend the final, underlining the importance of the competition within CAF’s broader development agenda.

Strong African Representation

The competition will feature a diverse lineup of teams from across the continent.

Girls’ Teams:
Zimbabwe (hosts), Ghana (champions), Burkina Faso, Morocco, Guinea, Tanzania, Zambia, DR Congo

Boys’ Teams:
Zimbabwe (hosts), Tanzania (champions), Benin, Morocco, Senegal, Uganda, Zambia, DR Congo

This wide representation reflects CAF’s commitment to inclusive football development across all regions.

Prize Money Driving Development

Beyond competition, CAF has emphasized the developmental impact of the tournament’s prize structure.

Winners in both categories will receive USD 300,000, while runners-up earn USD 200,000 and third-place teams receive USD 150,000.

Importantly, all prize money is ring-fenced for development projects within participating schools, with funding supported by the Motsepe Foundation. These funds are intended to improve infrastructure, education, and football facilities.

Building Africa’s Future Stars

CAF says the tournament is not just about competition, but about creating long-term opportunities for young Africans.

By combining sport with education-focused investment, the programme aims to nurture both football talent and future leaders.

Football fans across Africa have been encouraged to tune in and follow the competition, which CAF describes as the continent’s premier platform for discovering the next generation of stars.
