Bayern Munich ‘extremely satisfied’ with squad despite Wirtz praise, says Hainer

Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer says the club are not currently considering a move for Liverpool and Germany midfielder Florian Wirtz, despite describing him as an “excellent player”.

Wirtz joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen but has yet to fully reproduce the form that made him one of Germany’s leading players. His contract with the Reds runs until 2030.

Speaking at a commemorative event in Munich, Hainer said: “First of all, I think Wirtz is an excellent player, there’s no doubt about that. I feel a bit sorry for him because he hasn’t quite replicated his Leverkusen form since moving to England, and we need him performing well for the German national team.”

However, Hainer made clear that Bayern are content with their existing options and do not regard signing Wirtz as a current priority.

“We have such a top-class squad, and we are extremely satisfied with it right now, so this is not a topic for us at the moment,” he added.

Wirtz is in his second season at Liverpool but has not yet firmly established himself at the club. Despite Bayern’s admiration for the midfielder, Hainer’s comments indicate there is no immediate plan to pursue a transfer.
