Al-Qadisiyah dismiss Salah transfer speculation

Mohamed Salah has once again found himself at the centre of transfer speculation involving the Saudi Pro League, but Al Qadisiyah FC have now issued a strong denial over reports linking the Liverpool forward with a move to the club.

The Egyptian international has frequently been associated with Saudi Arabian clubs in recent transfer windows, particularly as teams in the Roshan League continue efforts to attract some of world football’s biggest names.

However, fresh comments from within Al-Qadisiyah appear to have closed the door on one of the most widely discussed rumours surrounding Salah’s future.

Speaking on the “Our League is Different” programme, Badr Al-Ruziza, chairman of Al-Qadisiyah Company, said the club had neither negotiated with Salah nor considered signing him.

According to the club president, the idea of bringing the Liverpool star to Al-Qadisiyah was never part of the club’s plans.

Salah Continues to Attract Saudi Interest

Despite the denial, Salah’s name remains closely connected to the Saudi Pro League because of his global popularity and influence both on and off the pitch.

The Liverpool FC forward has previously been linked with several Saudi clubs, including Al Hilal SFC and Al Ittihad Club, amid continued investment in star players across the league.

Foreign media reports have repeatedly suggested that Saudi clubs view Salah as one of the most marketable footballers in the world, capable of making both a sporting and commercial impact.

Speculation surrounding the Egyptian captain’s future has intensified further as his current spell with Liverpool approaches its conclusion at the end of the season. That uncertainty has ensured any mention of Salah in connection with Saudi football quickly attracts widespread attention.

Al-Qadisiyah, however, appeared keen to distance themselves from the rumours.

The club has undergone a major transformation since ownership was transferred to Saudi Aramco in June 2023. Since then, the side from Al-Khobar has emerged as one of the Saudi league’s ambitious long-term projects.

Al-Ruziza suggested the club did not want to appear as though it was pursuing every major international player linked with the Saudi market, regardless of the stature of the name involved.

Courtois and Other Targets Also Denied

Salah was not the only footballer discussed during the interview.

Al-Ruziza also denied reports linking Al-Qadisiyah with Thibaut Courtois and insisted the Belgian goalkeeper had never been considered by the club.

He further stated that Khaled Al-Ghannam was not a transfer target and confirmed there had been no contact with the player.

The club president stressed that “making promises is not Al-Qadisiyah’s policy,” adding that the organisation is focused on building what he described as a complete football system.

He pointed out that 42 Al-Qadisiyah players are currently involved across various Saudi national teams, highlighting the club’s broader sporting structure rather than a strategy based solely on signing global stars.

Confidence in Current Project

While dismissing speculation surrounding several major names, Al-Ruziza reassured supporters over the future of Julian Quinones, confirming the striker would remain at the club.

He explained that the recommendation to sign the Mexican forward came from the scouting department in Mexico and also rejected reports claiming the player earns as much as 20 million euros annually, saying the actual figure was “much less” than reported.

Al-Ruziza also highlighted the appointment of Northern Irish coach Brendan Rodgers, describing Al-Qadisiyah as a “complete system” managed through an integrated vision.

On refereeing matters, he confirmed the club would continue requesting foreign officials next season while insisting that policy does not represent a lack of confidence in Saudi referees.

Al-Qadisiyah’s progress on the pitch has reflected the club’s growing ambitions. The team currently sit fourth in the Saudi Pro League standings behind Al Nassr FC, Al Hilal and Al Ahli Saudi FC, while remaining ahead of Al Ittihad.
