Morocco-France goalkeeper Yanis Benchaouch has joined Red Star FC on a free transfer from Monaco U21. The 20-year-old moves to the Ligue 2 side after his contract with the Principality club’s youth ranks came to an end.
Benchaouch, who stands at 1.88m and plays in goal with his right foot, arrives at Red Star having most recently featured for Monaco’s U21 team, where he had progressed after stepping up from their U19 squad in 2023. His move to Paris-based Red Star, confirmed on 16 July 2026, marks his first transfer away from the Monaco set-up since leaving Trelissac’s youth ranks in 2021.
Born in Perigueux, Benchaouch holds both Moroccan and French nationality and has already collected honours at youth level. He won the French Youth Cup with AS Monaco U19 in the 2022-23 season and was part of the Morocco U20 side that lifted the Under-20 World Cup in 2025, underlining his experience in high-profile youth competitions.
Red Star’s new signing has seen his market valuation rise to €75,000 as he makes the step into a senior professional environment. Having joined Red Star on a free, he will now compete for a place in goal at a club returning to the national spotlight in Ligue 2.
Benchaouch’s switch from Monaco U21 to Red Star FC is registered as a permanent free transfer, effective from 16 July 2026.
