Burkina Faso international Lohann Doucet has completed a permanent move from Paris FC to Portuguese club Vitoria Guimarães, signing a three-year contract as he looks to revive his career.
The 23-year-old midfielder leaves Paris FC after helping the club secure promotion to Ligue 1 before falling out of favour during their return to the French top flight.
Paris FC confirmed the transfer on Tuesday, although the clubs did not disclose the fee involved.
For Burkina Faso, the move represents another opportunity for one of the country’s emerging internationals to establish himself in European football.
Having earned his first senior international call-up in March 2026, Doucet will now test himself in the Portuguese Liga with a club that regularly competes for places in European competitions.
Doucet joined Paris FC in 2023 from Nantes and quickly made an impression.
His performances during an initial loan spell convinced the Parisian club to activate a €300,000 purchase option, making his move permanent.
Over two seasons, he featured in 69 matches and played a role in Paris FC’s successful promotion campaign to Ligue 1.
However, his fortunes changed after the club reached the French top division.
The midfielder struggled to establish himself in Paris FC’s plans for life in Ligue 1 and was subsequently loaned to Dunkirk in search of regular playing time.
With opportunities limited, both player and club have now agreed to part ways, allowing Doucet to begin a new chapter in Portugal.
Vitoria Guimarães have handed the midfielder a three-year contract, underlining their belief that he can contribute to the club’s ambitions in the Portuguese league.
While the financial details of the transfer remain undisclosed, the move offers Doucet the chance to rebuild his career in a new environment after an interrupted spell in France.
For Burkina Faso, his switch is another positive development as more of the country’s players continue to secure opportunities across Europe’s leading football leagues.
Doucet only became a Burkina Faso international in March 2026, and regular football at club level could strengthen his chances of becoming a more consistent presence in the national team.
His move also reflects the growing pathway for African footballers seeking fresh opportunities across different European leagues after facing challenges at previous clubs.
Vitoria Guimarães have built a reputation for competing at the upper end of Portuguese football and are familiar with the demands of European competition, offering Doucet an environment where he can continue his development.
The midfielder now faces the challenge of adapting quickly to Portuguese football while rediscovering the form that convinced Paris FC to sign him permanently after his arrival from Nantes.
