Paris FC have opened negotiations to sign Burkina Faso international Arsene Kouassi from Lorient as the newly ambitious French club looks to strengthen its squad ahead of the new season.
The 22-year-old left-back has emerged as one of Paris FC’s leading transfer targets following an impressive campaign in Ligue 1, where his performances established him as one of Lorient’s standout players.
According to reports, Paris FC have already initiated discussions with Kouassi’s representatives, presenting their sporting project and exploring the possibility of bringing the defender to the French capital during the summer transfer window.
The move comes after a season in which Kouassi enjoyed a breakthrough campaign for Lorient. The Burkina Faso international made 31 league appearances, scoring two goals and providing eight assists as he became an influential figure on the left side of defence.
His consistency at both ends of the pitch has attracted attention from several clubs across France, but Paris FC are now reported to be leading the pursuit as they continue efforts to reinforce their squad.
However, securing Kouassi’s signature may prove difficult.
Lorient are understood to have no intention of allowing one of their key performers to leave without a significant offer and are reportedly demanding a transfer fee of around €10 million before considering a sale.
The club’s valuation reflects Kouassi’s growing importance after a campaign in which he established himself as one of the league’s most effective attacking full-backs.
His ability to contribute in the final third while maintaining defensive discipline has enhanced his reputation, with his pace, creativity and consistency becoming defining features of his game.
Kouassi’s rise has also strengthened his standing within Burkina Faso’s national team, where he is increasingly viewed as one of the country’s emerging talents playing in European football.
Having developed into a regular performer in Ligue 1, the defender is now attracting interest from clubs seeking to add quality and depth on the left side of defence.
Paris FC are expected to continue discussions in the coming weeks as they attempt to reach an agreement with both the player and Lorient.
Whether the negotiations progress could ultimately depend on the French club’s willingness to meet Lorient’s reported valuation.
For now, Kouassi remains under contract with Lorient, but his performances over the past season have ensured he is one of the more sought-after defenders in the French transfer market.
With the summer window gathering pace, Paris FC will hope their sporting project is enough to convince the Burkina Faso international to make the move, although any transfer is likely to require further negotiations before an agreement can be reached.
