French-Guinean right-back Thierno Balde, currently without a club, is being linked with a move to AS Nancy in Ligue 2.
Balde, 24, became unattached on 3 August after ending his time with Troyes, who signed him from Paris St-Germain in August 2022 for €3m. The defender made 44 appearances in Ligue 2 and 31 in Ligue 1 during his career, registering two assists in the top flight.
The proposed move would see Balde remain in Ligue 2, where he has accumulated the majority of his senior league appearances. Nancy are the club named in connection with the right-back, although the transfer remains at the rumour stage.
Balde developed through PSG’s academy after joining the club from US Senart-Moissy in 2016. He progressed through the Parisian club’s youth teams before moving to Le Havre on loan in July 2021. He returned to PSG the following year and subsequently joined Troyes on a permanent deal.
His senior career has included football in both of France’s top two divisions, with his Ligue 1 appearances coming alongside his longer spell in the second tier. Balde’s current status could allow him to negotiate a new club without an existing employer involved in the move.
There is no confirmed agreement between Balde and Nancy, and he remains without a club.
