Mauritanian-French midfielder Mamadou Fofana has joined AS Nancy from Swiss side FC Aarau, signing a contract with the French club until 30 June 2029.
Fofana, 25, moves to Nancy after a spell in the Swiss Challenge League and will wear the number 17 shirt for his new side. The move takes him into French Ligue 2, where he will operate primarily as a central midfielder.
Born in Le Havre, Fofana stands at 1.77m and is a right-footed player whose main position is in central midfield. His arrival gives Nancy another option in the middle of the pitch as they prepare for the coming campaign.
Fofana had been on the books of FC Aarau in Switzerland’s second tier before making the move to eastern France. He has not yet featured in the current Challenge League season, meaning he joins Nancy fresh for the new challenge.
Capable of representing both Mauritania and France at international level, Fofana adds further depth and versatility to Nancy’s squad profile. His current market value is listed at around €300,000, underlining the club’s decision to commit him to a long-term deal.
Fofana’s transfer to Nancy was completed on 28 July 2026, with his contract running through to the summer of 2029.
