South Africa to host Kenya in two-match Africa Cup of Nations qualifying test

The Orlando Amstel Arena in Johannesburg will stage South Africa’s first of two successive Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) 2027 qualifiers against Kenya next month.

Bafana Bafana will welcome Kenya on Friday, 13 November 2026, with kick-off in Orlando scheduled for 18:00. The return fixture will take place in Nairobi on Tuesday, 17 November 2026.

The two matches will carry added significance for Kenya manager Benni McCarthy, who will face his native South Africa for the first time since taking charge of the Kenyan national team. The fixtures will also see him go up against South Africa head coach Pitso Mosimane on South African soil.

Mosimane’s side sit top of Group D after winning both of their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches in September 2026.

South Africa began that run with a 2-1 victory over Guinea in Johannesburg before recording a 5-0 win against Eritrea in Egypt. The men’s national team also defeated Egypt 1-0 in Cairo during the same period.

Those results have lifted Bafana Bafana to 48th in the latest FIFA world rankings. They are now ranked 10th among teams in Africa.

Mosimane is expected to name his preliminary squad in the coming days as South Africa prepare for the two meetings with Kenya.

Tickets for the Johannesburg fixture are priced at 100 rand for adults, while children aged between five and 12 can attend for 40 rand.
