Smouha Coach Ahmed Abdel Aziz Gears Up for “Bone-Crushing” Clash with Al Ahly

Smouha’s first football team has wasted no time regrouping after their 2-0 defeat to Enppi. Led by coach Ahmed Abdel Aziz, the team returned straight to training, with no rest period, as they prepare for their upcoming showdown against Al Ahly next Saturday.

The urgency comes from both the tight schedule and a desire to correct mistakes from the Enppi loss. “I am not satisfied with the performance in the last match,” Abdel Aziz told Al-Watan Sport. “We are now working on creating new motivations for the players to restore the fighting spirit before facing Al Ahly.”

Abdel Aziz identified a lack of focus in the final touch as a key factor in the defeat and is targeting this issue during current training sessions.

The coach described the upcoming encounter with Al Ahly as exceptionally challenging. “The match will be extremely difficult, especially given Al Ahly’s strong desire to continue competing for the title, or at least secure second place to guarantee participation in the African Champions League,” he said. “This means we face a fierce opponent who fights for every point.”

To navigate what Abdel Aziz calls the “Red Tunnel,” Smouha’s technical staff is preparing the players both technically and psychologically. Training is focused on closing down spaces in front of Al Ahly’s key players, ensuring the team is ready for a physically and tactically demanding contest.

The stakes are high, and Abdel Aziz’s approach signals that Smouha will enter the clash fully aware that every point—and every mistake—could make the difference.
