Senegal international Ibrahim Mbaye has publicly responded to allegations made about his family following the release of a video by journalist Romain Molina.
Mbaye rejected what he described as defamatory claims directed at his family and himself, while also expressing his support for his parents in a message shared on social media.
The controversy follows a video published by Molina in which the journalist made claims concerning the player’s entourage and the alleged demands made by his parents to agencies seeking to represent him.
According to the claims relayed by Molina, Mbaye’s parents were said to have requested a substantial share of commissions and image rights from agencies interested in working with their son.
The allegations also included claims that the family had sought financial support for a number of projects. Those projects were said to include a foundation, hospital, academy, school, investments and a sports agency.
Molina’s claims also referred to various material and logistical benefits allegedly requested by the player’s entourage.
Mbaye has rejected the accusations and used his social media platform to defend his family following the publication of the video.
The Senegalese youngster expressed his frustration at what he considers to be attacks against his parents and relatives, while stating his belief that the truth would ultimately prevail.
“It’s fascinating how people can slander my family and me… But well, there is a God. God will take care of these people!”
The player also made clear that he stood behind his parents as the controversy continued to attract attention.
Mbaye concluded his message with the phrase “La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah,” a religious expression meaning there is no strength or power except through God.
His response represents the first public statement from the young Senegalese international following the claims made in Molina’s video.
The allegations have placed attention on the relationship between young footballers, their families and the agencies seeking to represent them, although the specific claims concerning Mbaye’s entourage remain disputed.
Molina’s video has been followed by Mbaye’s direct denial, with the player strongly rejecting the accusations and insisting that his family has been unfairly targeted.
At this stage, however, the claims made by Molina have not been independently confirmed.
Mbaye’s position remains that the accusations against his family are defamatory, while his public message has focused on defending his parents and rejecting the allegations.
