Osame Sahraoui has returned to training with Lille OSC, handing the Ligue 1 side a timely boost as they prepare for a crucial domestic run-in following their European exit.
The 24-year-old Moroccan winger had been sidelined since January 16 after suffering from pubalgia, an injury that ultimately required surgery following Lille’s 3-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain. His absence has been felt in recent months, with the attacker missing a total of nine Ligue 1 matches and six Europa League fixtures during his recovery period.
Lille confirmed Sahraoui’s return to full training on Thursday via their official communication channels, marking a significant step in his rehabilitation process and raising hopes of a potential return to competitive action in the coming weeks.
Lille Improvement
Before his injury setback, Sahraoui had been a regular part of the squad this season, making 23 appearances across all competitions. His contributions include 16 appearances in Ligue 1, where he registered one goal and two assists, as well as five outings in the UEFA Europa League.
His return comes at a pivotal moment for Lille, who are currently fifth in the Ligue 1 standings as they push for a strong finish to secure European qualification for next season. With their continental campaign already over, the club’s focus has now shifted entirely to domestic competition.
Attention now turns to a high-stakes encounter against regional rivals RC Lens, scheduled for Saturday evening at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy as part of matchday 28 in Ligue 1. The fixture is expected to be a key test of Lille’s top-five credentials, with both sides battling for European places.
Sahraoui Boost
While it remains unclear whether Sahraoui will be immediately available for selection, his return to group training provides manager Bruno Génésio with additional attacking options at a crucial stage of the season.
Lille’s recent form has been tested by injuries and squad rotation, particularly during their European campaign, and the reintroduction of key players like Sahraoui could prove decisive in maintaining their competitive edge.
