Real Madrid are still locked in negotiations with RB Leipzig over winger Yan Diomande, with discussions set to resume after the clubs again failed to reach a final agreement.
German journalist Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sport Germany reported that “there is still no final agreement between Real Madrid and RB Leipzig regarding Yan Diomande, after new talks today”, confirming that the deal has not yet been completed despite ongoing contact.
Plettenberg added that all parties had confirmed the current status of the talks and that, “unless something extraordinary happens before midnight, negotiations will continue tomorrow morning”. Real Madrid are understood to be pushing to bring the transfer to a conclusion this week.
Diomande taking precautions as Madrid talks continue
The 19-year-old Ivory Coast international, who plays predominantly as a winger, was at RB Leipzig’s training ground earlier in the day, but took part only in a managed, low-intensity session.
According to Plettenberg, Diomande followed an individually controlled fitness programme “to avoid putting the deal at risk”, underlining the expectation that his future could be resolved soon and the desire on all sides to prevent injury from complicating the move.
Despite the lack of a breakthrough on Thursday, the transfer remains “on” and active, with Real Madrid maintaining their efforts to reach an agreement with Leipzig before the end of the week.
Leipzig form and transfer background
Diomande joined RB Leipzig in the summer of 2025 from Spanish side Leganes and produced an eye-catching campaign in the Bundesliga, which has drawn attention from several of Europe’s leading clubs.
His performances in Germany have placed him firmly on Real Madrid’s radar as they look to strengthen their attacking options with a young wide player who has already adapted to one of Europe’s top leagues.
The interest in Diomande is not limited to the Spanish giants. Paris Saint-Germain are also in the running for his signature, while both Liverpool and Manchester City are reported to be monitoring the situation and tracking the Ivory Coast forward closely.
Competition for signature intensifies
With PSG, Liverpool and Manchester City all credited with an interest, Real Madrid face significant competition to secure Diomande, whose age, position and recent form make him an attractive long-term investment.
However, Real Madrid are currently the club applying the most pressure to close a deal, with their negotiations with RB Leipzig the most advanced at this stage, even if no full agreement on the transfer has yet been reached.
For now, Diomande remains an RB Leipzig player, continuing to train under controlled conditions while the two clubs attempt to bridge the remaining gaps in the talks that will decide his next move.
