Kevin De Bruyne: Galatasaray explore ambitious move for Napoli playmaker

Kevin De Bruyne, the Belgium international attacking midfielder currently at Napoli, is being linked with a surprise move to Turkish giants Galatasaray. The Super Lig side are understood to be exploring the possibility of bringing the 35-year-old to Istanbul as they look to add proven experience and creativity to their squad.

The prospect of a deal remains uncertain, with the chances of the transfer currently assessed at 24%, but Galatasaray are monitoring De Bruyne’s situation closely as he enters the final year of his contract in Italy, which runs to 30 June 2027. Napoli would be negotiating from a position of strength, with the playmaker still valued at around €8 million.

De Bruyne moved to Napoli on a free transfer from Manchester City on 1 July 2025 and has since adapted to Serie A, making 18 league appearances and contributing five goals and two assists. He also helped the club lift the Italian Super Cup in the 2025-26 season, adding to an already decorated career.

The former Wolfsburg and City star brings extensive experience at the highest level, including a UEFA Champions League title in 2022-23 and a long record of productivity in the Premier League, where he registered 72 goals and 121 assists across 288 appearances. He remains a central figure for Belgium as well, featuring at the 2026 World Cup with five appearances and one goal.

For now, De Bruyne remains a Napoli player with two years left on his deal, and any move to Galatasaray would require the Italian club to be convinced to cash in before his contract runs down.
