Michael Folorunsho, the Italy-Nigeria central midfielder currently at Napoli, is being linked with a summer move to Serie A rivals Monza. The 28-year-old is under contract at Napoli until 30 June 2029, meaning any deal is expected to require a significant negotiation rather than a cut-price exit.
Monza are understood to be exploring midfield reinforcements and have identified Folorunsho as a potential option after his run of top-flight experience in recent seasons. He has accumulated 81 Serie A appearances, scoring seven goals and adding one assist, following spells on loan at Hellas Verona, Fiorentina and Cagliari.
Folorunsho returned to Napoli this summer after a loan at Cagliari, where he had moved in July 2025 for a fee of €500,000. That followed a similar mid-season switch to Fiorentina in January 2025 and a successful campaign at Verona the year before, underlining Napoli’s preference to loan him within the division rather than sanction a permanent departure.
The Rome-born midfielder joined Napoli from Virtus Francavilla in 2019 and has also built up substantial game time in Serie B, with 88 appearances and 18 goals in Italy’s second tier earlier in his career. His current market value is estimated at €5m, a figure likely to shape Monza’s calculations as they weigh up whether to push ahead with a formal offer.
Folorunsho was part of the Napoli squad crowned Italian champions in the 2024-25 season, and with three years still to run on his deal, Napoli remain in a strong contractual position as interest from Monza gathers pace.
