Raphael Onyedika has won the 2025/26 Belgian Pro League title with Club Brugge KV after the club secured a 2-2 draw against KV Mechelen on Thursday to confirm the championship.
The result ensured Club Brugge moved four points clear of second-placed Royale Union Saint-Gilloise with one match remaining, making it impossible for their rivals to catch them at the top of the table.
For Onyedika, the triumph represents a second Belgian league title after also being part of the Club Brugge side that lifted the trophy during the 2023/24 campaign.
The latest success marks the club’s second championship in three seasons and the 20th league title in their history.
Club Brugge took an early lead in the decisive encounter through Christos Tzolis, who scored in the 17th minute to put the visitors ahead.
However, KV Mechelen responded shortly after the break when Myron van Brederode equalised early in the second half to ensure the contest remained finely balanced.
The draw ultimately proved enough for Club Brugge to seal the title and continue their recent dominance in Belgian football.
Onyedika’s success also adds to a growing list of Nigerian players who have secured league honours across Europe this season.
Victor Osimhen claimed a second successive Turkish Super Lig title with Galatasaray S.K., while Kelechi Iheanacho won the Scottish Premiership with Celtic F.C..
Elsewhere, Terem Moffi and Zaidu Sanusi secured the Liga Portugal title with FC Porto.
Frank Onyeka also enjoyed promotion success after helping Coventry City F.C. win the Championship title, while Francis Uzoho lifted the Cypriot First Division trophy with AC Omonia.
Onyedika’s latest achievement further strengthens his growing reputation following another successful season in Belgium. The midfielder has remained an important figure for Club Brugge as the club continued to compete for major honours domestically.
Winning another league title will also provide further encouragement for Nigeria ahead of future international competitions, with several Super Eagles players ending the season on a high after helping their clubs secure silverware across Europe.
Club Brugge’s latest triumph underlines the club’s consistency in recent seasons and reinforces their status as one of Belgium’s dominant sides. For Onyedika, meanwhile, the championship adds another significant milestone to a career that continues to develop steadily at both club and international level.
With one game still remaining in the campaign, Club Brugge can now celebrate another successful season after ensuring the title race was settled before the final round of fixtures.
