Spain’s Lamine Yamal heads into the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup as the tournament’s most successful dribbler after topping the rankings at the conclusion of the Round of 16.
The Spanish winger has completed 17 successful dribbles during the competition, placing him ahead of every other player in the statistic as the tournament enters its final stages.
Yamal’s ability to beat opponents in one-on-one situations has been one of the defining features of his performances, helping him establish a lead over the rest of the field before the last-eight matches.
His position at the top of the rankings also appears secure, with several of the players closest to him no longer involved in the competition following their teams’ elimination.
Brazil’s Vinicius Junior occupies second place after recording 16 successful dribbles across five matches. However, Brazil’s exit at the hands of Norway, who secured a 2-1 victory, means the forward will have no further opportunity to improve his total.
Germany’s Jamal Musiala is third in the standings with 15 successful dribbles, while Algeria’s Ibrahim Maza follows in fourth place on 14.
Paraguay forward Julio Enciso completes the top five after registering 13 successful dribbles during the tournament.
Several players remain within reach of the leading positions, although they trail Yamal by a significant margin.
France pair Michael Olise and Bradley Barcola have each completed 11 successful dribbles and are among the highest-ranked players still competing in the World Cup.
Argentina captain Lionel Messi is also continuing in the tournament and has accumulated 10 successful dribbles heading into the quarter-finals.
The wider top 20 list features players from across the globe, highlighting the range of attacking talent on display at this year’s competition.
Australia’s Cristian Volpato is sixth with 12 successful dribbles, while Germany’s Florian Wirtz shares a tally of 11 with Olise, South Korea’s Kang-in Lee, Barcola, Portugal’s Rafael Leão and Curaçao’s Tahith Chong.
Messi is part of a group of players on 10 successful dribbles. Also reaching that figure are Belgium’s Leandro Trossard, Ivory Coast’s Yan Diomande, Croatia’s Martin Baturina, Ecuador’s Nilson Angulo, United States duo Christian Pulišić and Sergiño Dest, and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Kerim Alajbegović.
With the quarter-finals still to come, Yamal has the opportunity to extend his lead over the remaining players still competing in the tournament.
His closest active challengers are Olise, Barcola and Messi, although each has considerable ground to make up if they are to overtake the Spain international.
The current top 20 successful dribblers at the World Cup are:
