Olympiacos target Gabon defender Jérémy Oyono with early summer move

Gabon international Jérémy Oyono has emerged as a transfer target for Greek side Olympiacos, with reports indicating the club has already made an approach for the Frosinone defender ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old right-back, who plays for Italian Serie B club Frosinone, is attracting attention from the Greek runners-up as they look to strengthen their defensive options before the start of next season.

According to reports, Olympiacos have identified Oyono as one of their priority targets and have already contacted Frosinone regarding a possible transfer.

The Greek club is also said to have submitted an offer worth €1.5 million for the Gabonese international.

With the summer transfer window yet to officially open, the move signals Olympiacos’ determination to complete key business early as they prepare for another campaign at the top end of Greek football.

For Oyono, the reported interest represents another significant moment in a career that has continued to progress steadily in recent years.

Although he currently plays in Italy’s second tier, a move to one of Greece’s most successful clubs could provide him with an opportunity to compete on a bigger stage.

The defender joined Frosinone in the summer of 2024 after leaving French side Boulogne-sur-Mer.

Since then, he has continued his development in Italian football while also maintaining his place within the Gabon national team setup.

This season, Oyono featured in 13 Serie B matches, making two starts and contributing one assist. While those statistics may not immediately stand out, his versatility has become one of his strongest assets.

Primarily deployed as a right-back, he is also capable of operating further forward as a right midfielder, offering tactical flexibility that could appeal to clubs seeking adaptable players capable of filling multiple roles.

For Gabonese football, the interest from Olympiacos highlights the growing visibility of the country’s internationals across Europe.

Gabon may not possess the depth of some of Africa’s traditional football powers, but players such as Oyono continue to attract attention from clubs competing in established European leagues.

A move to Olympiacos would also represent another step forward for a player who remains under contract with Frosinone until June 2027.

That contractual position could strengthen the Italian club’s negotiating stance, particularly given that they are under no immediate pressure to sell.

According to available estimates, Oyono’s market value stands at around €400,000.

The reported €1.5 million offer from Olympiacos therefore suggests the Greek club sees considerable potential in the defender despite his limited appearances this season.

Whether Frosinone will accept the proposal remains unclear.

With the transfer window approaching, discussions between the two clubs could intensify in the coming weeks.
