Nduka Junior, the Nigerian centre-back currently with Al-Najaf FC, is being linked with a move to Algerian top-flight side MC Algiers as the North African club assesses defensive reinforcements.
The 22-year-old, who plays primarily at centre-back and is valued at around €150,000, has attracted interest following his performances since moving to the Iraqi club earlier this year. He joined Al-Najaf on 29 January 2026 and has established himself in their back line, wearing the No 2 shirt and operating on his preferred right foot.
MC Algiers, competing in Algeria’s Ligue 1, are understood to be exploring a deal that would bring the Lagos-born defender to North Africa, with his relatively modest valuation likely to be a factor in their interest. Any agreement would represent the next step in a rapid rise for Junior, who already has domestic silverware on his CV.
Before his switch to Iraq, Junior was part of the Remo Stars FC side that won the Nigerian championship in the 2024-25 season, a title that helped put him on the radar of clubs outside his homeland. His combination of youth and top-flight experience in different environments has added to his appeal for recruiters.
Junior’s current contract details at Al-Najaf have not been made public, but he remains tied to the Iraqi club for now, and any move to MC Algiers would require the two clubs to agree terms.
