Napoli will appeal the two-match ban imposed on head coach Massimiliano Allegri after he was sent off during their 3-3 draw with Roma in the eighth round of Serie A.
The disciplinary action followed Allegri’s alleged offensive remark towards the match officials in the closing stages. He was also accused of making a disrespectful comment about the same officials in the area beneath the stands.
The ruling further states that Allegri adopted an aggressive stance towards a representative of the opposing team.
The incidents were reported by both the fourth official and the referee. Representatives of the Italian Federal Prosecutor’s Office also provided information concerning the final incident.
In addition to the two-match suspension, Allegri was fined 10,000 euros. The coach has previously maintained that he was not guilty of any wrongdoing.
