Barcelona have been fined €602 by the Royal Spanish Football Federation over their attempts to sign Atletico striker Julian Alvarez.
The penalty is worth just over 54,000 roubles, or almost 55,000 roubles.
Barcelona tried to negotiate the transfer of the Argentina international during the summer, but Atletico refused to allow Alvarez to leave. The Madrid club subsequently lodged a complaint, citing the Catalan side’s efforts to hold talks without permission from his current club.
The case has become known as the “Alvarez case”, with the federation now imposing the minimum possible financial sanction on Barcelona, according to The Touchline.
Alvarez apologised to Atletico supporters a few days ago.
Atletico are currently second in La Liga and trail leaders Real Madrid by two points.
