Turkish reports say Besiktas have moved a significant step closer to a deal for Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah after the Egypt captain’s agent reduced his commission demands.
Negotiations between the Istanbul club and Salah’s camp had reportedly stalled because his agent, Ramy Abbas, was seeking a €7.5m fee to complete the transfer, a sum viewed as a major obstacle to progress.
However, respected Turkish journalist Yagız Sabuncuoglu reported on X that Abbas has now scaled back those commission demands from the original €7.5m figure, easing one of the main points of tension in the talks.
According to Sabuncuoglu, the revised request brings Abbas’ commission much closer to the amount proposed by Besiktas president Serdal Adalı, narrowing the gap between the parties and raising hopes that an agreement can eventually be finalised.
Besiktas intensify talks
Besiktas are said to be stepping up efforts to close the deal in the coming days, with club officials continuing intensive discussions with Salah’s representatives.
If completed, the move is being billed in Turkey as potentially one of the most high-profile signings in the history of the Turkish Super Lig, given Salah’s status as one of world football’s leading forwards.
The latest development follows several weeks of sustained contact between Besiktas and the player’s camp, during which the Istanbul side have made Salah their top target to strengthen the squad for the new season.
Salah, who captains Egypt and remains a key figure at Liverpool, has not publicly commented on the negotiations, and there has been no official statement from either club regarding any agreement.
