Burnley are weighing up a move for Ghanaian defender Kojo Peprah Oppong, who is currently on the books at Ligue 1 side Nice. The Championship club have been linked with the 22-year-old centre-back as they assess options to strengthen their back line ahead of the new season.
Oppong, born in Accra and capped by Ghana at the 2026 World Cup, has emerged as a regular in France after joining Nice from Norrkoping in July 2025. He moved to the Cote d’Azur for a reported fee of €2.68m and has since made 29 Ligue 1 appearances, scoring once. He also featured in European competition last term, adding five Europa League outings to his record.
Burnley’s interest comes at a time when Oppong’s valuation has risen sharply. His market value is currently listed at €10m, reflecting his progression since leaving Swedish football, where he previously played in both the Allsvenskan and Superettan. Any negotiations are likely to be shaped by that figure.
The defender was involved in Ghana’s 2026 World Cup campaign, making two appearances at the tournament. That exposure has added to his profile, with his performances in France and on the international stage drawing attention from scouts.
Oppong is under contract at Nice until 30 June 2029, putting the French club in a strong position should Burnley decide to formalise their interest with an offer.
