Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed another major change to their technical team after announcing the departure of goalkeeper coach Ilyes Mzoughi following the expiration of his contract.
The Soweto giants revealed the news through their official social media platforms as the club continues restructuring its backroom staff ahead of the new season.
Mzoughi leaves after completing a two-year spell with Amakhosi, during which he worked closely with the club’s goalkeepers and formed part of the coaching staff that helped guide Chiefs to Nedbank Cup success last season.
In a brief statement confirming the decision, the club thanked the goalkeeper coach for his contribution during his time at Naturena.
“Goalkeeper coach Ilyes Mzoughi is leaving Kaizer Chiefs as his two-year contract with the Club comes to an end,” the statement read.
“Wishing coach Mzoughi all the best in the future.”
His exit follows the earlier departures of co-coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze, highlighting the extent of the changes taking place within the technical structure after the conclusion of the 2025/26 campaign.
While Chiefs managed to end the season with domestic cup success, their league form remained inconsistent throughout much of the campaign, leading to growing pressure for adjustments behind the scenes.
Mzoughi played a key role in overseeing the development and preparation of the club’s goalkeepers during a period that included both difficult moments and silverware success.
His departure now raises questions about who will take charge of the goalkeeping department as Chiefs continue rebuilding for the upcoming season.
The latest changes suggest the club’s new technical direction could involve a complete reshaping of the coaching setup as management looks to improve performances and restore consistency in the league.
Kaizer Chiefs remain one of the biggest clubs in South African football, but expectations from supporters have continued to rise following several seasons of mixed results domestically.
The club is now expected to intensify preparations for the new campaign, with further announcements regarding the technical team and squad structure likely in the coming weeks.
