Kaizer Chiefs part ways with co-coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the departure of co-coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze following the expiry of their contracts at the end of the season.

The Soweto giants announced that they will not be renewing the deals of the coaching duo, bringing an end to their brief spell in charge of Amakhosi.

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the club thanked the pair for their service.

“We want to extend our gratitude to the coaches for their dedication and contribution, and wish them all the best in their future,” the statement read.

Despite their exit, Ben Youssef and Kaze leave having overseen a notable improvement in Chiefs’ fortunes.

The pair guided the club to a third-place finish in the Betway Premiership. Their highest league position in six years and secured qualification for next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.

That marked a significant turnaround from the previous campaign, when Kaizer Chiefs finished ninth in 2024/25, and represented their best league performance since the 2019/20 season.

However, the campaign was not without inconsistency. Chiefs showed flashes of quality, including draws against both Orlando Pirates, the Betway Premiership champions, and Mamelodi Sundowns, the CAF Champions League winners, but also suffered unexpected defeats, including a loss to Siwelele.

Alongside the coaching changes, fitness coach Majdi Safi has also departed the club, while the future of goalkeeper coach Ilyes Mzoughi remains uncertain.

The reshuffle marks another phase of transition at Naturena as Kaizer Chiefs look to build on their improved league finish and mount a stronger challenge for silverware next season.
