Inter Milan end Feyenoord’s unbeaten home record against Italian clubs with 3-0 win

Inter Milan responded to their derby defeat by beating Feyenoord 3-0 at De Kuip on Tuesday to claim their second victory of this season’s Champions League.

The Italian side had been beaten 3-1 by city rivals AC Milan in the Italian league only a few days earlier, but produced a commanding performance in the Netherlands to secure all three points.

The result also ended Feyenoord’s unbeaten home record against Italian opposition in the Champions League’s league phase, or the group stage under the previous format.

Before Tuesday’s match, Feyenoord had won four and drawn two of their six home games against Italian clubs, according to official Champions League statistics.

Inter moved on to six points and occupy 14th place in the league-phase table. Feyenoord remain on three points in 30th.

Inter took control of the match before half-time, with Yann Bisseck opening the scoring in the eighth minute. The defender found the net with a powerful strike to put the visitors ahead.

Francesco Pio Esposito doubled Inter’s advantage in the 34th minute, heading home to give his side a 2-0 lead at the interval.

Feyenoord were unable to produce a response after the break as Inter continued to dominate. Nine minutes into the second half, Piotr Zielinski added a third with a fierce shot, effectively settling the contest.

The victory gives Inter a second success in four Champions League league-phase matches, while Feyenoord suffered their first home defeat against an Italian opponent in the competition’s current or former format.
