Juventus move to secure Jérémie Boga with new long-term contract

Juventus are keen to keep Jérémie Boga in Turin beyond this season after the winger made an encouraging start to life at the club.

Boga joined the Italian giants during the January transfer window on a temporary deal from OGC Nice.

Although the move was initially structured as a short-term arrangement, the 27-year-old’s early performances have convinced the club’s hierarchy that he could play a longer role in their project.

Reports from Italian transfer journalist Nicolò Schira suggest that Juventus are already working on a long-term plan for the Ivory Coast international.

Discussions are said to be underway regarding a contract that would tie the winger to the club until 2029.

The Turin-based side are understood to be evaluating the option in the agreement that allows them to sign the player permanently.

The clause, which is around €4.8 million, gives Juventus the opportunity to complete the transfer once both sides finalise the details of the deal.

Further talks are expected in April between club officials and Boga’s representative, Meissa N’Diaye.

The meeting is expected to clarify the final terms should Juventus decide to proceed with the permanent acquisition.

Boga has contributed three goals and one assist in eight appearances so far.

One of his contributions came during Juventus’ narrow victory over Udinese in the Serie A.

It was his third goal in as many league outings and helped Juventus strengthen their position in the top half of the table.

Meanwhile, Boga also remains part of the Ivory Coast national team setup.

The winger has represented his country since 2017 and has scored two goals at international level.

Whether he will feature in Ivory Coast’s upcoming international matches remains uncertain.

The Elephants are scheduled to face South Korea on March 28 before taking on Scotland three days later.

The fixtures form part of the team’s build-up to the FIFA World Cup.

Ivory Coast have been drawn in Group E, where they will meet Germany, Ecuador and Curaçao.
