Benin international Junior Olaitan has expressed his desire to continue his development at Turkish giants Beşiktaş, insisting his journey with the club is still in its early stages despite attracting transfer interest following a strong start in the Süper Lig.
The 24-year-old attacking midfielder joined the Istanbul club during a period of transition and has quickly become part of the squad’s rebuilding project.
Although his performances have reportedly drawn attention from other clubs ahead of the transfer window, Olaitan has opted to remain with Beşiktaş as he looks to establish himself further.
Olaitan, who represents Benin at international level, believes his adaptation to life in Turkey has gone well and is focused on long-term progress rather than an immediate move elsewhere.
“I arrived in February to a squad with many new faces. I feel particularly good here, whether with my teammates, the staff, the management, or the fans.
“Following the numerous departures in January, we are in the midst of a rebuild, and I am continuing to adapt to the playing philosophy. This first assessment at Beşiktaş is very positive. Next season looks fantastic, and we will fight together to achieve great success.”
The midfielder’s comments reflect a growing confidence within the player as he continues to settle in Istanbul following a rapid rise in his career.
Olaitan’s journey to the Turkish top flight has been swift. In July 2025, he left Grenoble Foot 38 in Ligue 2 to join Göztepe S.K., marking his first experience outside French football.
His early performances in Turkey suggested a quick adaptation to a new league and environment.
During his brief spell at Göztepe, he made 17 appearances and scored twice, showing enough promise to attract attention from Beşiktaş midway through the season.
He later completed a move to the Istanbul club, where he has continued his development.
Since joining Beşiktaş, Olaitan has scored three goals in 13 appearances across all competitions, contributing to the team during a period of squad restructuring.
This season, he has maintained steady involvement in the squad, recording 14 appearances in the Süper Lig, along with two goals and two assists, highlighting his growing influence in the team’s attacking play.
His market value is currently estimated at around €7 million, reflecting his rising profile in European football.
From an African football perspective, Olaitan’s progression is another example of West African talent adapting successfully to European and Eurasian leagues, with the Benin international now looking to turn promise into consistency in Istanbul.
