Algerian club JS Kabylie have made contact with South African international Elias Mokwana as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season.
The Kabyle side have identified the Esperance Tunis winger as a key transfer target, with technical and sporting director Yazid Mansouri leading efforts to explore a possible move.
Mansouri has already been active during the summer transfer window, completing several deals as JS Kabylie attempt to build a squad capable of competing on both domestic and continental fronts.
The club has now turned its attention to Mokwana, whose pace and attacking ability are viewed as qualities that fit the profile being sought by head coach Karim Belhocine.
According to reports from Tunisian and Algerian sources, Mansouri has held initial discussions with the South African player to present JS Kabylie’s sporting project.
The approach reflects the Algerian club’s ambition to add more quality and depth to their squad as they prepare for the challenges of the upcoming campaign.
Mokwana, who represents South Africa internationally, has impressed with his ability to operate in wide attacking positions.
His speed, direct running and ability to create danger in one-on-one situations have made him an attractive option for clubs looking to improve their attacking threat.
However, securing his signature will not be straightforward.
The winger remains under contract with Esperance Tunis until 2027, meaning JS Kabylie will have to negotiate directly with the Tunisian giants if they want to complete the transfer.
Esperance are reportedly demanding a significant fee for the player, with reports suggesting they want at least €1.5 million before considering his departure.
JS Kabylie have already submitted an initial offer and are now waiting for a response from the Tunisian club as negotiations continue.
The outcome of discussions between the two clubs will determine whether Mokwana becomes the latest addition to JSK’s squad.
For Esperance, losing the South African winger would represent a major decision, given his contract situation and the investment involved in retaining key players.
For JS Kabylie, the pursuit of Mokwana underlines their desire to compete at a higher level and strengthen their attacking options ahead of a demanding season.
The Algerian club believe the winger’s characteristics match the requirements identified by their coaching staff, particularly their need for more pace and creativity in the final third.
Mokwana’s potential move would also continue the growing trend of African clubs targeting established international players from across the continent to improve their squads.
