Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Jody February is close to joining Siwelele FC on loan for the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season, with the 29-year-old already in Bloemfontein and training alongside his prospective new team-mates.
The move is subject to the completion of the remaining administrative details between the two clubs. February has asked to leave Sundowns temporarily in search of regular first-team football and is expected to finalise the transfer shortly.
His representative, Mike Makaab of ProSport International, has confirmed that talks between the clubs are at an advanced stage.
February’s return to Bloemfontein would give him the chance to revive his career after struggling to secure a regular place at the reigning Betway Premiership champions. Since joining Sundowns in 2019, the goalkeeper has made only eight senior appearances for the club.
The competition for places at Chloorkop has become even stronger following Ricardo Goss’s return. Ronwen Williams remains Sundowns’ first-choice goalkeeper, while veteran Denis Onyango offers further experience in the position.
A season with Siwelele could therefore provide February with the consistent playing time he has been unable to find at Sundowns. The loan is expected to give him an opportunity to regain match momentum and establish himself as a regular starter.
February began his professional career at Ajax Cape Town, which is now known as Cape Town Spurs. His performances later earned him a move to Sundowns, although he has found it difficult to secure extended first-team opportunities at the club.
The goalkeeper also represented the South Africa U23 national team in the early part of his career. During his time with Sundowns, he has had previous loan spells at Cape Umoya United, Moroka Swallows and AmaZulu.
At Siwelele, February will not be guaranteed a starting place. The club have also strengthened their goalkeeping options by signing Phoko Goitseone from Botswana.
The arrival of both goalkeepers is expected to create strong competition for the number-one position as Siwelele prepare for the new Betway Premiership campaign.
For February, the proposed move represents another opportunity to gain regular senior football. His experience with Sundowns, combined with his previous loan spells, could make him an important part of Siwelele’s plans if the transfer is completed.
The goalkeeper’s immediate priority will be to turn his early involvement in training into a permanent place in the team and make the most of the opportunity in Bloemfontein.
