Former Ivory Coast international Koffi Christian Romaric N’Dri has returned to the top flight of Ivorian football after being appointed head coach of FC Mouna d’Akoupé.
The Ligue 1 Lonaci club officially confirmed Romaric’s appointment, with the former Elephants midfielder signing a one-year contract to lead the team ahead of the 2026-27 season.
The appointment marks a return to Ivory Coast’s elite division for Romaric, who recently ended his contract with Ligue 2 side Lanfiara d’Attécoubé.
FC Mouna will now hope the experience and leadership of the former national team player can help the club achieve its targets during the upcoming campaign.
Romaric is expected to officially begin his new role on July 20, when FC Mouna players return for pre-season training.
The former midfielder arrives with considerable experience from both domestic and international football.
During his playing career, he represented Ivory Coast at two FIFA World Cups and featured in three Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
His time with the Elephants saw him become part of a golden generation of Ivorian footballers who competed regularly at the highest level of African and global football.
After retiring from playing, Romaric moved into coaching and has continued to build his profile within Ivorian football.
Before joining FC Mouna, he was in charge of Lanfiara d’Attécoubé, a Ligue 2 club, before the two parties agreed to end their working relationship.
His move to FC Mouna provides him with another opportunity to prove himself in the country’s top division, this time managing a club aiming to establish itself among Ivory Coast’s competitive teams.
FC Mouna, based in Akoupé, will be looking for stability and progress under their new coach as they prepare for the challenges of the 2026-27 season.
For Romaric, the role represents another important step in his transition from a celebrated international player to a coach responsible for guiding the next generation of footballers.
The former Elephants midfielder was known during his playing days for his technical ability, composure and tactical understanding, qualities the club will hope he can transfer to his coaching career.
His appointment also adds another former Ivory Coast international to the growing list of ex-players moving into management roles within the country’s football system.
With pre-season preparations set to begin later this month, attention will now turn to how Romaric shapes his squad and implements his ideas at FC Mouna.
