Senegal international Abdou Diallo has started a new chapter in his career after joining Saudi Pro League side Abha Club on a free transfer.
The 30-year-old centre-back, who previously played for some of Europe’s biggest clubs including Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig, has signed for the newly promoted Saudi Arabian club after spending the last three years in Qatar.
Diallo’s move to Abha marks another stage in a career that has seen him represent clubs across France, Germany, Belgium and the Middle East, while also becoming one of Senegal’s most valuable players in the transfer market.
Over the course of his career, the defender has generated €81.5 million in transfer fees, making him the second Senegalese player to have produced the highest transfer revenue for his former clubs.
Only Sadio Mané ranks above Diallo, with the former Liverpool and Bayern Munich forward generating €130.2 million in transfer income during his career.
Diallo’s biggest transfer came in 2022 when Qatari club Al-Arabi paid Paris Saint-Germain €15 million to secure his services.
Before that move, the defender had established himself at the highest level of European football.
The Senegalese player made the most appearances of his career for PSG, featuring 75 times for the French giants.
He also played 51 matches for Al-Arabi, 38 for Borussia Dortmund, 35 for Belgian side Zulte Waregem and 30 for Mainz 05.
His journey through European football began in France before he developed further in Germany, where he gained Bundesliga experience with Mainz and Dortmund.
His performances eventually earned him a move to Paris Saint-Germain, where he competed alongside some of the world’s leading players.
Diallo has also enjoyed success on the international stage with Senegal. He was part of the squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2021, helping the Teranga Lions secure their first continental title.
After leaving PSG, Diallo continued his career in Qatar, featuring for Al-Arabi before spending time on loan at Al-Duhail SC and Umm Salal SC.
His arrival at Abha comes as the club prepares for life in the Saudi Pro League after earning promotion.
The Saudi top flight has attracted several high-profile players in recent years, with clubs investing heavily to improve the quality and global profile of the competition.
For Diallo, the move offers an opportunity to bring his international experience and defensive leadership to a new environment as he enters the next phase of his career.
The Senegal defender’s career has already taken him across several continents and leagues, and his latest move adds another chapter to a football journey that has produced both sporting achievements and significant financial value.
