Borussia Dortmund make €20m move for Togo striker Kevin Denkey

Borussia Dortmund have reportedly made a €20 million offer for Togo international Kevin Denkey as the Bundesliga club look to strengthen their attacking options during the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old forward, who is under contract with Major League Soccer side FC Cincinnati until June 2028, has attracted growing interest following an impressive run of form in the United States.

It is understood Dortmund have submitted an offer to FC Cincinnati in an effort to secure the striker’s signature.

While the MLS club have yet to accept the proposal, the report says Denkey is enthusiastic about the prospect of joining the German side.

Borussia Dortmund are also said to have offered the Togolese international a five-year contract worth an annual salary of €4 million.

The move would represent another significant step in Denkey’s career and underline the growing influence of African players in Europe’s top leagues.

Denkey has established himself as one of the standout forwards in Major League Soccer since joining FC Cincinnati.

In 17 league appearances this season, he has scored 13 goals and contributed four assists, making him one of the competition’s most productive attackers.

Across his time with the American club, the striker has recorded 14 goals in 48 appearances, performances that have reportedly attracted attention from several European clubs.

Borussia Dortmund are not the only side monitoring the Togolese forward.

Spanish club Real Betis, Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur and French outfit LOSC Lille have all been linked with interest in the striker.

However, Dortmund are the first club reported to have made a formal financial offer to FC Cincinnati.

The German side are looking to reinforce their attacking department and view Denkey as a player capable of adding goals and physical presence in the final third.

For Denkey, a move to the Bundesliga would mark another milestone in a career that has continued to gather momentum.

Before joining FC Cincinnati, the Togolese international played for Belgian club Cercle Brugge, where he developed into one of the league’s most consistent attacking players.

His transition to Major League Soccer has only enhanced his reputation, with his goalscoring exploits now attracting interest from some of Europe’s most recognised clubs.

For Togo, Denkey’s rise also highlights the increasing number of African footballers making an impact across different continents before earning opportunities at elite European clubs.
