Borussia Dortmund receive Guirassy deadline as Europe’s elite monitor €40m release clause

Borussia Dortmund could soon receive clarity over the future of Guinea international striker Serhou Guirassy, with his release clause set to expire on 15 July.

According to Sky, several of Europe’s biggest clubs have the opportunity to sign the 30-year-old for just under €40 million before the deadline passes.

The clause reportedly allows clubs including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal to trigger the fixed-fee agreement before it expires.

Once the clause lapses, any interested club will have to negotiate directly with Dortmund over a transfer fee, potentially strengthening the Bundesliga club’s bargaining position.

No official bids despite widespread interest

Despite being linked with several European heavyweights, Dortmund have reportedly not received any formal offers for Guirassy.

Turkish giants Fenerbahçe are also monitoring the striker’s situation, but reports suggest a move to Turkey is not currently the Guinea international’s preferred option.

No official proposal has yet been submitted by the Istanbul club.

Dortmund waiting for decisive period

Guirassy’s future remains a key part of Dortmund’s summer planning as the club continues reshaping its squad.

Having already strengthened in several areas, further transfer business could depend on player departures, making the striker’s situation one of the club’s biggest priorities over the coming days.

The experienced forward remains under contract at Borussia Dortmund until 2028, but with the release clause expiring on 15 July, the next two weeks are expected to be decisive in determining whether one of Europe’s top clubs makes its move or whether Guirassy remains at Signal Iduna Park.
