Ghana star Kudus returns early from injury as Tottenham’s survival fight intensifie

Ghana forward Mohammed Kudus has returned to group training earlier than expected, offering a timely boost to Tottenham Hotspur as the club battles to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

The 25-year-old had been sidelined since January after sustaining a thigh injury during Tottenham’s 1-1 draw with Sunderland, where he was forced off after just 19 minutes..

His recovery comes at a critical stage of the season, with Tottenham facing a fight to preserve their top-flight status.

Kudus, who has registered five assists in the Premier League this season, is expected to rejoin full match preparations as the club enters the final stretch of the campaign.

The Ghana international will now work under newly appointed head coach Roberto de Zerbi, who has taken charge following his appointment on a five-year contract.

The Italian becomes Tottenham’s third manager of the season and inherits a side in a precarious position near the bottom of the table.

De Zerbi, formerly of Brighton, faces an immediate challenge, with just seven matches remaining to steer the club away from relegation to the Championship.

The task is made even more significant by the terms of his contract, which reportedly does not include a relegation clause that would allow him to leave should the club drop out of the Premier League.

Tottenham’s situation leaves little margin for error.

Each of the remaining fixtures is likely to be decisive, not only in determining the club’s league status but also in shaping perceptions of De Zerbi’s tenure before it has fully begun.

The coming weeks will define Tottenham’s season.

Within two months, De Zerbi’s appointment will either be viewed as a turning point that preserved the club’s Premier League status or as part of a turbulent campaign that ended in relegation.

Up next for Tottenham is a clash against Sunderland on April 12.
