De Zerbi linked with Mohammed Kudus’ Spurs amid relegation fears

Roberto De Zerbi is being linked with a possible move to Tottenham Hotspur to work with Ghana’s Kudus but the club’s uncertain position in the Premier League could prove decisive in whether any deal materialises.

The Italian coach, currently without a club after leaving Olympique de Marseille, is understood to be among the candidates being considered as Tottenham look ahead to next season. However, reports suggest his interest in returning to English football hinges on a crucial condition: the club must avoid relegation.

Tottenham’s situation remains precarious following a run of poor results, which has left them struggling near the bottom of the table. A recent heavy defeat to Nottingham Forest has only intensified concerns about their ability to maintain top-flight status.

The uncertainty comes despite a recent managerial change, with Igor Tudor appointed to replace Thomas Frank on a caretaker basis.

The move was intended to stabilise the team’s performances, but the club continues to face a battle to secure its Premier League future.

For Tottenham, the stakes extend beyond immediate results on the pitch. Their league position could directly influence their ability to attract high-profile managerial talent. De Zerbi, widely regarded as a progressive and sought-after coach, is reportedly unwilling to consider a move if the club drops out of the top division.

Securing survival would not only preserve their status among England’s elite clubs but also strengthen their chances of appointing a manager capable of leading a longer-term rebuild.

With seven games to end the season, Spurs lie 17th, a place above West Ham who are in the drop zone.

The club is without a league win in their last 13 games; their worst run in 91 years.

Caretaker boss Igo Tudor has secured a single victory since he was brought in while the players on the treatment list continues to extend.
