Former Egypt star Mido reveals hospitalisation after family ordeal

Former Egypt international and Zamalek striker Ahmed Hossam Mido has spoken publicly about a health crisis that led to his hospitalisation, saying his condition has improved after receiving medical treatment.

The incident came shortly after a court session involving his son Hussein, who was sentenced to seven months in prison on charges related to narcotics possession and driving without a licence while underage.

News of Mido’s health condition prompted widespread concern among Egyptian football supporters, many of whom expressed their support and sympathy through social media platforms. The former footballer later sought to reassure the public, confirming that he was recovering and receiving medical attention.

Speaking to Al-Nahar TV, Mido explained the circumstances surrounding the health scare and described the events that unfolded after attending the court hearing.

Symptoms Emerged After Court Session

According to Mido, he began to feel unwell after returning from court following the hearing involving his son. He said he had hoped the sentence would be reduced, while stressing that he respected the decisions issued by the judiciary.

The former Egypt forward explained that his condition deteriorated shortly afterwards, prompting him to seek medical care.

“I felt some symptoms and went to the hospital. I suffered from a severe increase in blood pressure and underwent tests over the past few hours before I left.”

Medical examinations were carried out to assess his condition, and doctors initially investigated the possibility of a more serious issue.

Mido disclosed that there had been concerns about a potential stroke, although subsequent developments brought more positive news.

“There was a suspicion of a minor stroke, but thank God my condition has improved significantly in the past few hours.”

His remarks provided reassurance after reports of his health emergency sparked anxiety among fans and followers.

Return Home Under Medical Observation

The former Zamalek star said he eventually left hospital after learning about his son’s psychological condition following the verdict.

He explained that concern for his son influenced his decision to return home, where he continues to be monitored closely by medical professionals.

“I left the hospital after learning of my son’s poor mental state following his diagnosis, which prompted me to return home, where I am under close medical supervision.”

Mido also reflected on the personal challenges facing his family and spoke about his determination to approach the situation with patience and faith.

He said he viewed the events as a difficult test and described them as a lesson for both himself and his son.

A Message of Faith and Resilience

Despite the emotional and physical strain of recent days, Mido indicated that he remains committed to maintaining his responsibilities and staying strong throughout the ordeal.

“I tried to remain strong from the first day of my son’s crisis, and I made sure to go to work because it is sacred to him, and I hope the crisis will pass peacefully.”

The former striker’s comments offered a rare glimpse into the personal difficulties he has faced in recent days, combining concerns over his health with worries about his son’s situation.

Prior to revealing details of the incident, Mido had apologised to viewers for missing an appearance on his television programme, citing health issues. His latest comments have now clarified the reasons behind that absence and confirmed that his condition has shown significant improvement.

For many supporters, the update will come as welcome news after a period of uncertainty surrounding one of Egyptian football’s most recognisable former players.
