Dutch giants Feyenoord are in discussions to sign emerging Algerian winger Hicham Farah, following an impressive campaign in the Netherlands that has elevated his profile across Europe.
The 20-year-old, currently on loan at SC Cambuur from French side Lille OSC, has become one of the most talked-about young players in the Dutch second tier. His performances have played a significant role in Cambuur’s promotion to the Eredivisie, achieved with several matches still remaining in the season.
According to reports, Feyenoord have already held talks with the player as they look to reinforce their attacking options ahead of next season. The Rotterdam-based club are believed to view Farah as a potential successor to Anis Hadj Moussa, who could depart in the summer amid interest from the English Premier League.
A report by Voetbal4u stated: “Feyenoord has held talks with Hicham Farah, the 20-year-old winger who is currently on loan to Cambuur from Lille. The player is said to be open to a move to the Rotterdam-based team.” It added: “Feyenoord spoke with Farah and the player is open to the move.”
Despite Feyenoord’s interest, Cambuur are keen to retain the winger and have approached Lille about extending his loan spell. However, the French club are reportedly reluctant to agree to another temporary deal, preferring instead to reassess the player’s future this summer.
Competition for Farah’s signature is growing. Spanish club Real Betis and French side Olympique Lyonnais are also monitoring his development. Nevertheless, indications suggest the player favours either remaining in the Netherlands or returning to Lille.
Farah’s rise has been underpinned by consistent performances. Across 34 appearances in all competitions this season, he has scored 11 goals and provided six assists—figures that underline his attacking impact. Known for his dribbling ability, technical quality and direct running, his style has drawn comparisons with Hadj Moussa.
His emergence has not gone unnoticed by the Algerian national team setup. With competition for wide attacking roles already strong—featuring players such as Riyad Mahrez—Farah is nevertheless seen as part of the country’s long-term plans.
Importantly, Farah remains eligible to represent Algeria without administrative complications, having not featured for France at youth level. He is currently being monitored by national team coach Vladimir Petković, with sources suggesting his international debut could be a matter of time.
As the summer transfer window approaches, Farah’s next move is expected to be a defining step in his career, with Feyenoord positioning themselves strongly to secure one of Algeria’s most promising young talents.
