Tunisian-French attacking midfielder Fedi Ben Choug has joined Al-Ain from ES Sahel on a free transfer.
Ben Choug, 31, completed the move on 3 September 2026 after two years with ES Sahel, having initially arrived at the Tunisian club from Kazakhstan side FC Turan without a transfer fee in August 2024.
The left-footed midfielder has played primarily in an attacking midfield role during his career. He stands 1.89m tall and was born in Paris, with both Tunisia and France listed among his nationalities.
His move to Al-Ain brings an end to his time in Tunisia, where he had spent the majority of his senior career. Before joining ES Sahel, Ben Choug played for FC Turan, Hassania and Esperance Tunis, also representing CA Bizertin and CS Sfaxien earlier in his career.
Ben Choug made 36 appearances in the Botola Pro Inwi for Hassania, scoring five goals and providing three assists. He also featured six times in the CAF Champions League, scoring twice, and made four appearances in the CAF Confederation Cup, where he scored once.
His most extensive league experience has come in France’s Ligue 1, where he has recorded 130 appearances, seven goals and 15 assists. He began his development with Paris FC’s youth teams before moving into senior football with Paris FC B and Aubervilliers.
Ben Choug enjoyed the most successful period of his club career with Esperance Tunis. He won three Tunisian league titles with the club, in the 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons, and also lifted two Tunisian Super Cups in 2020 and 2022.
The move continues a sequence of free transfers for Ben Choug. His switch to ES Sahel from FC Turan, his move to FC Turan from Hassania and his transfer to Hassania from Esperance were all completed without a fee.
Al-Ain have therefore added an experienced attacking midfielder with a record spanning domestic competitions in France, Tunisia, Morocco and Kazakhstan. Ben Choug’s move from ES Sahel to Al-Ain was completed on 3 September 2026.
