Eintracht Frankfurt step up bid to sign Club Bruges midfielder Raphael Onyedika

Eintracht Frankfurt have increased their offer for Raphael Onyedika as they attempt to persuade Club Bruges to sell the Nigeria international this summer.

According to Bild, the Bundesliga side have decided to raise their bid to around €9m in order to move negotiations forward for the defensive midfielder.

The improved proposal is also designed to head off rival interest from Al Ittihad, with the Saudi Pro League club monitoring the 25-year-old and considered capable of entering formal talks, as first reported by Africafoot.

Club Bruges yet to be convinced

Despite Frankfurt’s latest move, the fee on the table remains below Club Bruges’ valuation and is still less than the amount the Belgian side originally paid to sign Onyedika.

That discrepancy is currently a major obstacle to a swift agreement, with Bruges holding a strong position thanks to the player’s long-term deal.

Onyedika is under contract with Club Bruges until 30 June 2027, giving the Belgian club little immediate pressure to sell and the freedom to resist offers they deem insufficient.

Highly rated and in demand

Onyedika continues to be regarded as a significant asset in the transfer market and is attracting interest from several clubs.

The midfielder, capped by Nigeria, is valued at €23m by specialist website Transfermarkt, a figure that underlines the gap between Frankfurt’s offer and external assessments of his worth.

Frankfurt, however, are hopeful that by acting early and decisively they can gain an advantage over other suitors and eventually strike a deal for the player.

Contract and salary details

Onyedika, who plays primarily as a defensive midfielder, earns an annual salary of €677,851 at Club Bruges, equivalent to 440,603,150 FCFA.

While financial terms between Frankfurt and the player have not been disclosed, the German club’s focus for now remains on finding a transfer fee that Club Bruges will accept.

With Al Ittihad’s interest in the background and Bruges standing firm on their demands, Frankfurt’s increased bid marks only the latest step in what could become a drawn-out negotiation over the Nigerian’s future.
