Raphael Onyedika: Nigeria and Club Brugge midfielder linked with Al-Ittihad move

Raphael Onyedika, the Nigeria defensive midfielder currently at Club Brugge, is being linked with a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad. The 25-year-old is under contract with the Belgian champions until 30 June 2027, but interest from Jeddah has grown in recent days as Saudi clubs continue to target players established in European competition.

Onyedika’s valuation is understood to be around €23 million, reflecting his status as a key figure in Brugge’s midfield and his regular involvement in the UEFA Champions League, where he has made 24 appearances and scored three goals. Any deal is expected to require a substantial fee, given both his market value and the length of time remaining on his current contract.

Since joining Club Brugge from Midtjylland in August 2022 for €9.5 million, Onyedika has become a mainstay in the Jupiler Pro League, making close to a century of league appearances and helping the club secure back-to-back Belgian titles in 2023–24 and 2025–26. His performances in the domestic Champions’ Play-Offs and in Europe have enhanced his reputation and brought him to the attention of overseas clubs.

Born in Imo in April 2001 and standing at 1.84m, the right-footed midfielder has also collected silverware in Denmark earlier in his career, including a national cup win with Midtjylland. For now, Onyedika remains contracted to Club Brugge, who are under no pressure to sell ahead of 2027, leaving Al-Ittihad facing a potentially complex negotiation if they move from interest to a formal bid.
